Pastor John Pharis

Pastor John is a licensed architect and church planter in the beautiful city of Charleston.  Originally from central Louisiana, he received the life changing experience of salvation at the venerable Pentecostals of Alexandria, a church he considers his home.  He married Angela Collier, a native of Summerville, South Carolina, while attending college.  Upon graduation they moved to North Charleston and started careers and a family.  After serving 15 years in every form of volunteer church ministry, they felt the call to plant a new congregation in the city of Charleston.

With the full support of spiritual leadership and mentors in the faith, they began City Church of Charleston on February 22nd, 2009, to the glory of the saving name of Jesus Christ.  With the commitment of only nine people to attend the first service, City Church began meeting at St. Andrews Middle School auditorium.  This school on Wappoo Road would be their home on Sundays for four years.  In January of 2013, Pastor John led the growing congregation to a building they renovated for several months prior.  With a building to call their own at 1662 Savannah Highway, the ministries of the church are now able to function and grow like never before.

Pastor John leads City Church of Charleston with a very capable ministry and leadership team of volunteers.  His wife Angela, a registered nurse, along with their two daughters Olivia and Lillian, also serve the congregation of City Church with the time, talents and resources God blessed them with.
